About the Author

Writing is how I light the stars and search for grace. I make my way by day, stay alive, help my world, practice kindness, struggle with patience and occasionally curse ignorance. I wake in the night with a thought or a rhyming line I couldn't write in the daylight, or maybe a random idea from inner space that won't go away.

So I write. It's clarifying and therapeutic. It's fun. It's not fun. It's challenging and humbling. It’s frustrating, drives me nuts. But it’s never dull. It’s reading and research, checking facts, dates, timelines, sequence. It’s crawling inside your characters, painting their souls on the page. Using the perfect illuminating or bone-chilling adjective, questioning every line from a reader perspective. It’s critical listening as you read out loud and edit, edit, edit.

I recommend writing as a daily exercise. It’s like stretching. Wake up your body. Wake up your brain. Journal. Write a rhyme. Text happy thoughts to a friend. Write ‘I love you’ and bcc yourself. Do anything for 30 days and it becomes a habit. Give it a try.
