I sleep in a cashmere sweater
Under a cloud of down.
My bed is an island of peace;
My life is a wild West town.
My day moves like a meteor
Blasting through inner space.
I try to put on the brakes
And get home to my quiet place.
I leap past those moments to savor,
My eyes ache to linger on love
Of God’s beauties small and mundane
To the glory of heavens above.
I am awed by the moon and the sunset,
Impressed by the wind and soft rain.
Breathless, I observe all the faces
Revealed in their joy and their pain. Unfinished ode.
