She said, “I Tell Myself ‘Shut Up’.”

I noticed that I talk to myself lately.

This is not a good thing.

Maybe I have an opinion,

Maybe I’m just lonely.

Harry doesn’t talk much

About the things I feel.

Especially about feelings.

It’s all right. I’ll live with it.

In my defense, I am the most

Interesting person in the room,

Most certainly when I am

The only person in the room.

For the prosecution,

I let out shocking expletives.

But who cares, I’m alone

And it feels good—and bad.

Did I really say that?

Are those words really me?

I’ve lost my moral compass

When I talk to the TV.

My outbursts are reactions

To their insanity

I listened.

She’s a flaming redhead,

With a temper quick to blame.

I said, “Call it like you see it,

Because it’s just a nasty game.”
