A formal proclamation, the big news is out,

About your promotion, we’re ready to shout

From our lab to world labs, from tower to dome,

A world research leader has one of our own.

Dear Doctor Tina, we want you to know

That your time in our lab has helped us all grow.

You’ve shared your knowledge and challenged our ways.

Made us hunt harder, think smarter, find new trails to blaze.

Your charm and your wit are only surpassed

By your scrupulous findings getting published at last.

We’re proud of your progress and know you will shine.

With that brilliant dissertation you’ll be famous online.

We knew you were a star the first week you were here

And when you move on, we’ll shed a group tear.

Your new colleagues are lucky and we’re proud to say

That we drank cappuccinos with Tina along the way.

Dearest Nancy, my partner, Love of my life

I still can’t believe I have you as my wife.

On this very day thirty years past

I had high hopes that we would last.

Through thirty years of smiles and tears

We overcame our youthful fears.

All those days of rock and roll

You’ve kept me sane and made me whole.

You made my ‘ups’ higher and cheered up my ‘downs’

Made me see moonbeams. Chased away frowns.

You put up with my grumbling and turned me around

With a smile, a hug and nary a sound.

I watch you and wonder at your inner joy

After all these years, I’m the luckiest boy.

You love me and feed me and let me watch sports

You even let me lounge in my plaid undershorts.

It is with this ring that I thee lovingly wed

And pray that we have sixty years ahead.
